TRRS celebrated Ghana\u2019s 68th Independence Day in grand style on 5 March 2025 embracing the theme: \u2018Traditional Folklore\u2019. Ghana\u2019s folklore, deeply rooted in our oral traditions, encompasses customs, drama, festivals, musical stories, and proverbs passed down through generations. It is the thread that binds us to our ancestral heritage. This celebration is in line with our effort to ensure that students appreciate our rich traditional customs, stories, and practices that are at risk of being forgotten in today\u2019s fast-paced, modern world.<\/p>\n

Our pupils, parents, and staff were grouped into six Regional Areas, representing the 16 regions of Ghana to highlight the diverse and unified spirit of Ghana’s cultural heritage. The regional areas were as follows:<\/p>\n

Eastern Region<\/p>\n

Greater Accra Region,<\/p>\n

Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono East and Bono Regions<\/p>\n

North East, Northern, Savannah, Upper East, and Upper West<\/p>\n

Volta and Oti Regions<\/p>\n

Central, Western, Western North Regions<\/p>\n

Each Regional Area took turns to showcase their traditional folklore with us. They shared their rich cultural history through storytelling, singing, dancing, and even enacted tales of migration. The vibrant costumes and props brought the folklore to life, reminding us of the time when storytelling was a cherished household practice and tradition. It was an immersive and deeply educational experience, one that will leave lasting memories for our students.<\/p>\n

In addition to the performances, there were exhibition stands featuring artefacts and beautifully curated pavilions, thanks to our amazing Parent-Teacher volunteers. Guests also enjoyed local delicacies from regional food stands, giving everyone a taste of the diversity within Ghana\u2019s cultural landscape.<\/p>\n

A huge thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly to make this year\u2019s event such a resounding success! It would not have been possible without the incredible support from our PTA and amazing parent and staff volunteers. We also extend our gratitude to Abibigromma Theatre Company (University of Ghana School of Performing Arts) for ensuring that our preparations were culturally authentic.<\/p>\n

This event was truly a celebration of Ghana\u2019s culture and heritage. God bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong!<\/p>\n
