To commemorate International Women\u2019s Day 2026, selected Form Five (5) students from The Roman Ridge School participated in the \u201cRing the Bell for Gender Equality\u201d event hosted by the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and supported by the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE), UN Women, the UN Global Compact, and the UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative.<\/p>\n

Mr. Tolu Lacroix (Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Ghana), spoke about the organisation\u2019s ongoing efforts to advance women\u2019s empowerment. He highlighted the importance of men actively supporting their female colleague women in general and encouraged institutions to foster safe, inclusive environments where women can excel.<\/p>\n

During a panel session, Dr. Teddy Ngu (Director of Institutional Affairs & Agribusiness, Africa), Ms. Barbara Tetteh (Senior Investment Officer, IFC), and Ms. Awura Abena Agyeman (Co-founder, Wear Ghana) discussed the financial barriers many women face, often stemming from societal perceptions. They emphasised the need for intentional efforts to equip women, from grassroots communities to urban centres with financial literacy, access to funding, and opportunities for economic participation. They also highlighted the importance of tracking the impact of institutional support.<\/p>\n

Young female students were encouraged to begin learning about financial management early; whether through school clubs or community initiatives to help them build confidence and make informed financial decisions throughout their lives and careers.<\/p>\n

The Roman Ridge School remains committed to promoting gender equality and advocating for equal opportunities for all students, regardless of background, religion, or gender. These values are central to the school\u2019s ethos and its mission to nurture confident global leaders guided by integrity, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility.<\/p>\n
