The Roman Ridge School was\u00a0honoured\u00a0to take part in the 77th Commonwealth Day Commemoration Ceremony;\u00a0a significant event celebrating unity, cooperation, and shared\u00a0progress\u00a0member states of the Commonwealth of Nations.<\/p>\n

Held on Monday, 9 March 2026, at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra, the ceremony was jointly\u00a0hosted\u00a0by the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration as part of this year\u2019s Commonwealth Day activities.<\/p>\n

The event featured a symbolic flag-raising ceremony, reflecting the shared values and long-standing partnership among Commonwealth member countries, hosted by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC). In attendance were Hon.\u00a0Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (Minister for Interior),\u00a0Dr. John Obeng\u00a0Apea, (Head of Mission CWEIC), HE Dr. Christian Rogg (British High Commissioner to Ghana), H.E. Bernice Owen-Jones (Australian High Commissioner), members of the diplomatic corps and Commonwealth partners.<\/p>\n

A delegation of Gold Medal winners from the Queen\u2019s Commonwealth Essay Competition (QCEC) 2025 represented the school and were specially recognised at the ceremony, highlighting the pupils\u2019 achievements and The Roman Ridge School\u2019s continued record as a top-performing school in this international competition across Africa and the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n

Special messages were delivered on behalf of Her Excellency Shirley\u00a0Ayorkor\u00a0Botchwey (Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Secretariat) and His Majesty King Charles III (Head of the Commonwealth). Distinguished speakers, including Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, \u00a0\u00a0Dr. Christian Rogg and Dr. John Obeng\u00a0Apea,\u00a0emphasised\u00a0the importance of cooperation, global connectedness, and meaningful dialogue in addressing the challenges of today\u2019s complex and interconnected world.<\/p>\n

The commemoration served as a strong reminder of the Commonwealth\u2019s commitment to promoting democratic values, strengthening international partnerships, and advancing collective development.<\/p>\n

Our participation in this significant event offered students and educators an opportunity to\u00a0witness\u00a0diplomacy in action and reflect on the importance of global collaboration, mutual respect, and shared aspirations.<\/p>\n
