On 14 March 2025, The Roman Ridge School commemorated the International Day of Mathematics with an engaging Inter-House quiz competition, bringing together students across all sections to celebrate the significance and beauty of mathematics.
The day kicked off with a whole school assembly, setting an inspiring tone for the event. Students from different age groups showcased their talents: the junior school performed a poetry recital, the middle school presented a math drama, and the senior school recited Pi digits. This diverse range of performances not only promoted academic excellence but also highlighted creativity and teamwork.
The main highlight of the celebration was the inter-house math quiz, where houses competed across all three school sections. The quiz emphasised academic achievement, collaboration, and the real-world applications of mathematics. Students had the opportunity to demonstrate their problem-solving skills, which are critical for their personal and academic growth.
The competition proved to be a tremendous success, benefiting students in various ways. It helped build confidence, improved speed and accuracy, and encouraged healthy competition. The interactive format also allowed for immediate feedback and collaborative learning, making the experience both fun and educational for all involved.
After tallying the points from the various sections of the school, COBRAS emerged as the champions with a total of 114 points. Congratulations to the winning house!
A special thank you to the Maths Department and the event facilitators: Nii John Coleman- (Senior School Math Coordinator), Jones Osei- (Middle School Math Coordinator), Joyce Dekagbe- (Junior School Math Coordinator).
The Roman Ridge School remains committed to nurturing a passion for mathematics and teamwork, inspiring students to excel academically and personally both inside and outside the classroom.
