TRRS Makes History at The Young Debaters 2025!

This year, The Roman Ridge School made history by participating in The Young Debaters competition for the very first time, with an all-girls team of six exceptional debaters. The programme aligns with our commitment to nurturing confident communicators, critical thinkers, and resilient leaders.

Each student drafted their own essays, refining their skills through intense practice that challenged their ability to articulate strong arguments, demonstrate creativity, and exhibit resilience. Their dedication paid off as they advanced all the way to the finals, with all six competitors making it a truly remarkable feat!

On Friday 7 March 2025, our team delivered a brilliant performance with poise and passion, proving their voices could resonate powerfully. In an unforgettable moment of triumph, our students MAAME ABENLEMA AMIHERE emerged as the overall winner, taking home the top prize and MALAVIKA SANTHOSH securing an impressive second place!

Throughout the journey, our students engaged in peer editing and feedback sessions that helped them refine their arguments, support one another, and lead with integrity; skills that will extend far beyond the debate stage. The competition also fostered intellectual curiosity, effective communication, and promoted teamwork among our debaters. We are deeply grateful to the coaches who made this success possible: Ruth Tetteh (TRRS English Coordinator), Emmanuel Gbedemah (TRRS History Coordinator), Irene Konadu (English Literature Teacher), and Daniel Dodoo (History Teacher). Their dedication and passion played an essential role in guiding our students to victory, and we thank them for their invaluable contributions.

TRRS is incredibly proud of Maame Abenlema Amihere, who will now represent Ghana in the international leg of The Young Debaters competition in the United Kingdom in May 2025. We are fully behind her and look forward to supporting her as she takes this next big step!
