TRRS Celebrates International Literacy Day 2025

On 8 September 2025, The Roman Ridge School marked International Literacy Day with an engaging celebration themed “Promoting Literacy in the Digital Era.” The event was aimed at raising awareness about the importance of literacy, both in traditional and digital contexts.

The day began with a whole-school assembly, where Selasi Agbosu (Head Boy) and Shraddha Gupte (Head Girl) delivered inspiring opening addresses and outlined an exciting line up of events for students to enjoy, ranging from poetry recitals to a storytelling visit from celebrated author Mansa Amankwah!

To model good reading habits and help develop a love for reading, our Senior School students led a few story time sessions with Junior School pupils, bonding over exciting tales and lots of stories of adventures!

Throughout the day, The English Department organised a lively schoolwide inter-House Spelling Bee competition helped everyone expand their vocabulary and learn a few new words. Our 2025/2026 Prefects also organised a Book Fair at the front of the school, with some of the proceeds going to support the TRRS Ridge Readers Club with their mobile library and various literacy outreach projects in our community.

This event was made possible thanks to the dedicated efforts of our English Department and Prefects/Student Committees across the school.
