Form 2 students from The Roman Ridge School (TRRS) embarked on a memorable, educational journey to Ussher Fort on 23 September 2025. This historic site in Accra holds deep significance in Ghana’s history and its connection to the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
This visit was more than just a field trip; it was an opportunity for students to engage directly with the past, exploring Ghana’s pivotal role in global history and reflecting on the enduring legacy of slavery. Through guided tours and thoughtful discussions, students gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of preserving historical landmarks and understanding the stories they hold.
Students were encouraged to consider how the lessons of history continue to shape the present and influence our future. The visit also reinforced key themes in their curriculum, bringing classroom learning to life in a tangible and impactful way.
At TRRS, we believe that education extends beyond the four walls of a classroom. Experiences like this are essential in nurturing socially aware, globally conscious young leaders who are equipped to engage thoughtfully with the world around them. We are grateful to the Social Studies Department and Form 2 Form Tutors for facilitating this trip.
