On Tuesday 11 November 2025, The Roman Ridge School held a solemn and meaningful ceremony to mark Remembrance Day, honoring the brave soldiers who lost their lives during World War II and expressing gratitude to those who returned. This annual tradition provides our school community with an opportunity to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and service of all men and women in the armed forces who work tirelessly to maintain peace and keep us safe.
We were privileged to welcome back our Guest of Honour, Ex-Sargent Kofi Amissah Yankson, a retired officer of the Ghana Armed Forces. He shared profound reflections on the significance of Remembrance Day and emphasized the importance of peace, dialogue, and tolerance in resolving conflicts and embracing diverse perspectives. We were also honored by the presence of Squadron Leader Reginald Kenney of the 4th Squadron, Ghana Air Force.

The ceremony featured a wreath-laying tribute led by representatives of our school community. In the weeks preceding the ceremony, we held our Annual Poppy Drive to raise funds for the Veterans Administration of Ghana, which supports Ghana’s veterans. Thanks to the generosity and support of our pupils, staff and parents we successfully raised GHS 6,375 for the Veterans Administration of Ghana. This contribution will go towards supporting the welfare of our veterans.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ex-Sargent Yankson, Squadron Leader Reginald Kenney, our parent community, our staff and students, and to Ms. Gloria Awuku Boateng (Principal Teacher) for coordinating this year’s Poppy Drive and Remembrance Day commemoration. Special thanks to all staff and students whose efforts ensured the success of this important event.
Lest We Forget.
