In line with our commitment to foster activities that enhance cognitive skills, TRRS participated in the prestigious IAPS Online Chess Tournament, a virtual competition on 5 March (Supervised practice event with live help and advice) and 12 March (IAPS Individual Chess Championship and Team Qualifier). Some students from our Chess Club participated with great enthusiasm. The event aimed to promote interest in chess among students, offering them a chance to showcase their strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
Six students represented TRRS in the Under 8 and under 13 categories namely: Kofi Oppong- Kyekyeku (Class 4 West), Bryan Adu Boahen (Class 5 Atifi), Avyukt Murali-Krishna(Form 1 Atifi), Yohan Commey (Form 1 West) and Raja Sachiin (Form 2 East). Competing through multiple progressive rounds, each timed match challenged their problem-solving skills, and their ability to take good decisions under pressure. Our students demonstrated remarkable resilience and sportsmanship throughout the event.
Their participation reflects TRRS’s commitment to developing well-rounded learners who embody critical thinking and perseverance. Beyond the competition, the experience served as a good avenue to foster healthy competition, collaboration, and sportsmanship among participating students.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Daniel Dodoo, Ms. Esther Nsarful, and Ms. Ruby Boye for their dedicated support in preparing the students for this enriching opportunity.
Congratulations to all participants, and we look forward to more competitions in the terms ahead!
