TRRS Class 3 Pupils Visit the National Mosque

Our Class 3 pupils had the wonderful opportunity to visit the National Mosque in Kanda, Accra on 10 June 2025. This immersive experience was designed to reinforce their understanding of lessons learned in the classroom, bringing abstract concepts to life!

Pupils thoroughly enjoyed their visit, gaining a firsthand look at the physical symbols and features central to Islamic worship. They observed the stunning grandeur of the Mosque, saw the Qur’an, learned about the Mihrab (prayer niche), and understood the significance of the prayer mat. Our pupils were shown the various ways Muslims pray and perform ablutions, offering them a practical and engaging way to grasp lessons learnt in class.

This field trip truly offered a unique opportunity to students to learn about their subject in a more interactive and immersive way than is possible within a traditional classroom setting, and by observing Islamic traditions and customs, students were able to foster mutual respect and tolerance for navigating our multicultural society.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Malam Suleman, Deputy Administrator at the National Mosque, for being such a gracious and informative tour facilitator.   A special thank you to Mr. George Edzie (Social Studies Teacher) and all the Class 3 Form Tutorsfor making this experience possible and enriching for our pupils.

Such experiences are invaluable in broadening our students’ horizons and fostering a deeper appreciation for diverse beliefs and culture.
