On 25 February 2026, The Roman Ridge School (TRRS) was prominently featured on Citi FM and Channel One TV in an exclusive interview highlighting our remarkable achievements in the 2025 Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition (QCEC).
This media feature followed TRRS’s exceptional performance in the competition, where our students earned an impressive 364 medals out of 610 entries, placing TRRS amongst the top schools in the Commonwealth of Nations. This included 5 Gold Finalists, 43 Gold Awards, more than 110 Silver Awards, and 206 Bronze Awards; a milestone that reflects both the dedication of our students and the strength of our academic programmes.
During the interview, students Wilma Inkumsah (Form 4 West), William Inkumsah (Form 4 East), Papa Ankomah Owusu-Ankomah (Class 6 Atifi), Kwabena Obeng (Class 6 East), Nour Ismail (Class 5 East), and Wynnie–Elize Dzidzor Porbley (Class 4 West) shared their personal experiences, challenges, and inspirations behind their essays. Their reflections highlighted how the competition enabled them to express their creativity while gaining confidence in articulating ideas on global issues.

Students offered insights into TRRS’s intentional approach to cultivating a strong reading and writing culture. Through structured mentorship, rigorous practice, and preparation aligned with international literary standards, our students are encouraged to think critically, write with clarity, and engage deeply with global themes. This international recognition has further strengthened our learners’ sense of voice and global awareness; attributes that extend far beyond the classroom and prepare them for leadership on the world stage.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated facilitators, Mrs. Deborah Kotey (Principal Teacher) and Ms. Ruth Tetteh (Senior School English Co-ordinator) and the entire English Department whose guidance and mentorship were instrumental to this remarkable achievement.
We are also grateful to the Citi FM & Channel One TV team for their commitment to showcasing the achievements of Ghana’s youth and nurturing the confidence and talent of children. The feature served not only as a celebration of excellence, but also as an inspiration to schools and students across Ghana to pursue global academic opportunities with discipline, purpose, and determination.
At TRRS, we remain committed to empowering every learner to find their voice and use it to impact positively. We continue to nurture confident, articulate, and principled young people who are equipped to thrive in an interconnected world and contribute meaningfully to society.
