One of the core values that define us at The Roman Ridge School is Responsibility; not just to ourselves, but also to the community around us. The Class of 2024 took this responsibility to heart with an inspiring initiative that focused on making a real difference.
Their goal was to raise GHC 80,000 in support of two important charitable projects which were: To construct a comfortable dining area with a shed and lunch benches for students of Dzorwulu A & B School and to provide support for patients at the Renal Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. Driven by the loss of a classmate’s parent, the Class of 2024 was especially passionate about helping the Renal Centre, knowing the immense challenges patients face.
To achieve their goal, the graduating class took the lead in championing this cause by rallying students, staff, and parents to support their fundraising efforts. They distributed pledge cards across all classes, encouraging everyone to contribute what they could. Additionally, they organized a Sponsored Walk, Wellness Bazaar, Bake Sales, and Health Talks to further raise funds for their projects. Thanks to their dedication and collaboration, they raised an incredible GHC 110,550 surpassing their original target. This allowed them to fund the dining area at Dzorwulu A & B School and make a generous donation to the Renal Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
On Friday, 7 March 2025, representatives from our current graduating class officially handed over the donation to the Renal Centre, with Dr. Frank Owusu-Sekyere, CEO of the hospital, expressing his profound gratitude. He acknowledged that the funds would offer significant relief to patients struggling with financial challenges during their treatment.
We are immensely proud of the Class of 2024 for their commendable determination and generosity, to make a difference in the lives of people. We thank all members of the TRRS community; students, parents, and staff for making this remarkable project possible. Your support has made a lasting impact, and we can’t wait to see the ripple effect of this kind of service in the future.
