Exploring Weather and Climate: Class 5 Visit to the Ghana Meteorological Agency

Our Class 5 students took their Geography learning beyond the classroom with an educational visit to the Ghana Meteorological Agency on 13 May 2025.

The experience offered valuable, hands-on insight into how weather forecasts are developed and highlighted the importance of meteorology in everyday life. Students explored a variety of instruments including rain gauges, barometers, wind vanes, and anemometers and learned how data is collected, analysed, and used to make accurate predictions.

Agency officials also shared how climate information supports key sectors such as aviation, agriculture, disaster management, and daily decision-making. Through this interactive session, students were able to connect theory with real-world scientific applications, deepening their understanding while sparking curiosity.

The visit not only enriched their knowledge of weather and climate but also promoted experiential and collaborative learning. Students engaged actively through observation, questioning, and discussion, building an appreciation for scientific research and its role in society. Students later tried to make their own handmade wind instruments and displayed them in class, showcasing creativity and reinforcing their understanding of weather concepts.

We extend our sincere thanks to Ms. Roberta Prebbie (Middle School Social Studies Teacher) for facilitating this impactful experience.

At TRRS, we remain committed to creating meaningful learning opportunities that inspire critical thinking and a lifelong love of learning.
