Mental Health Awareness at TRRS

At TRRS, we believe Health is Wealth! We actively teach our pupils that good health and well-being is multifaceted and comprised of both physical and mental health. The month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month in Ghana and on 11 May 2026, The Roman Ridge School, highlighted this important campaign through assemblies and classroom activities centered on the theme, “Action – For Yourself, For Others and For All of Us.”

Through meaningful discussions and engaging classroom activities, students were encouraged to prioritise self-care and healthy choices, support one another, and foster empathy within their daily interactions. Throughout the programme, learners explored how thoughts, emotions, and coping mechanisms shape overall well-being. They were encouraged to open up to parents, trusted friends and adults about how they are feeling and that seeking help and support is a sign of courage and strength. Teachers highlighted the importance of healthy habits to protect our physical and mental health, such as adequate sleep, reducing screentime, regular exercise, enjoying good nutrition, practicing gratitude, compassion and kindness, and enjoying positive social connections and healthy friendships.

The Roman Ridge School continues to lead the holistic development of young people by combining academic excellence with strong pastoral care and purposeful student engagement. By creating safe spaces for open conversations, the initiative strengthened students’ emotional resilience while promoting compassion, inclusivity, and mutual respect across the school community. We equip students with valuable life skills that support both personal growth and academic success. It encouraged learners to build supportive peer networks, practice empathy, and develop healthy strategies for managing challenges both inside and outside the classroom.

We are grateful for the dedicated efforts of our Safeguarding Team, PSHE Coordinator and Form Tutors across the school, for contributing to this programme and so many more throughout the school year. At TRRS, we remain committed to nurturing well-rounded learners by supporting not only academic achievement, but also the emotional well-being and personal development of every student.
