A Bus Tour Experience for Form 3 Students

On 12 May 2026, Form 3 Geography students from TRRS embarked on an educational bus tour across various communities in Accra as part of an experiential learning exercise focused on urban development and environmental studies.

The tour provided students with the opportunity to observe and analyse inequalities between and within communities while gaining firsthand insight into the social, economic, and environmental realities shaping Ghana’s capital city.

Throughout the journey, students visited several communities across Accra, where they examined contrasts in infrastructure, housing, sanitation, and overall development. The experience also enabled students to closely assess the causes and impacts of pollution affecting the Odaw River as well as the Korle and Chemu Lagoons, encouraging meaningful discussions around sustainability, urban planning, and environmental responsibility.

A memorable highlight of the trip was the stop at Independence Square and the Black Star Gate, where students reflected on the historical and national significance of these important landmarks while taking a well-earned break during the tour.

This experience strongly reflects our commitment to promoting experiential learning beyond the classroom. Through direct observation and discussion, students broadened their cultural awareness, and developed a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing urban communities in Ghana. Beyond academics, the programme also encouraged teamwork and social responsibility; qualities that are essential in developing thoughtful, informed, and globally minded learners.

At TRRS, we remain committed to creating meaningful learning experiences that inspire students to engage critically with the world around them and become active contributors to society.

Special appreciation goes to David Nyatepe (Geography Coordinator), Eric Asare (Economics Teacher) and Form 3 Form Tutor Mrs. Elizabeth Donkor, for their invaluable guidance and support in making the trip a well-coordinated and impactful learning experience for all participants.
